Ecological olive production is a feasible first step towards a longterm solution for the shortcomings of current olive production, in the Mediterranean area. Therefore, an innovative pilot research project is being laid out, aimed at the design, development and evaluation of ecological olive production, in co-operation with a pilot group of ecological farmers. A set of twelve parameters has been used to quantify the objectives of the prototype systems. The preliminary results of these parameters and of the quantification of the objectives are presented.
