Experimental Design for Evaluating Nutrient Flows. P2; 2

The experimental part of an ongoing project 'Plant production, nutrient management and plant protection on organic dairy farms' is described. The experiment is carried out in a six-year rotation where factorial treatments are 0.9 and 1.4 livestock units pr. ha in either a slurry system or a deep litter dominated system. The registration and sampling program will be presented which included plant development, weeds, fungal attack, botanical composition etc. It is described how nutrient leaching and nutrient balances can be calculated for each of 16 plots in each field by the use of suction cups installed below the root zone in combination with exact knowledge about crop yield and manure application.
