Korean Organic Agriculture has been oppressed politically since the green Revolution in the middle of 1960s to 1970s criticizing negative points of the conventional agriculture which had misused the chemical fertilizer and pesticide But, Recently, Korean organic agriculture opens the new stage. A lot of farmers and citizens are interested in Organic Agriculture and Government is also trying to support organic agriculture. Most of specialists guess the prospect of Korean organic agriculture would be bright. The reason of organic agriculture's bright future are the followings
First, Consumers should prefer safe food more and more according to GNP increase. (10,072 US$ per capita end of 1995) Second, After the WTO agreement, the counterplan to the open market system is stressed that national produce have better quality, taste and safety than imported produce Third, Organic Agriculture is proper to small sized and intensive agriculture system in Korea. Forth, Korean goverment is actively trying to settle and support organic agriculture In Korea, Seoul municipality is successfully doing organic agriculture supporting project in his water supply zone for clean water and citizens' health now. A lot of other municipal governments are also planning to do the same project. This project makes the new way of resident participation for organic agriculture development. So, Korean organic agriculture and community supported agriculture will be spread rapidly within 2-3 years
